Range Maintenance
Saturday, 25 June 2011
As noted in the results of the work party today, Range Chairman Bob Ray has started a range improvement project on the east 50 yard range. The objective of the project is threefold:
- Improve safety on 100 yard range by raising and improving the barrier between the east 50 yard range and the pathway to the targets on the 100 yard range.
- Widen the east 50 yard range at the berm by about 10 feet.
- Prepare the range for the installation of steel targets.
The location of the construction is indicated by the red oval in the image to the right. The dirt has been removed in preparation for laying a base of gravel, and then laying bunker blocks of concrete on top in line with the existing cinder block wall to create a concrete wall two feet thick. Another row of bunker blocks will be laid at range level beside the new wall to reinforce the dirt holding up the new wall.
The range may not be used while construction is in progress. The entrance to the range is blocked off by lane barrels and yellow tape.
