Fall Trap League, 2005

Shotgun chairman Dan Stevens has outlined the shooting activities for the four week Fall Trap League which is due to start on Tuesday, September 6, 2005.  The Fall League, which is half the duration of the Spring Trap League, is intended to be a different series of trap games which will challenge the standard practise shooters, and which will be fun to shoot.  There are no team sponsors required (although your team may have a sponsor if you wish), and there will be no jackpots or other payouts.  The following are the currently planned four events that each team will rotate through during the League shooting:

• Paired colored birds.  This will be standard doubles at 20 yards, with 24 birds per shooter (12 shooting opportunities).  Each shooter will shoot at 2 different colored birds during each turn to shoot.  The light colored bird must be shot first or else the shooter gets a score of zero for that pair of birds.
• Report.  Report will be shot on a Continental trap using one round per target (Continental ordinarily allows two shots at a single target), from the 24 yard line.  In report shooting all shooters must be prepared to fire in sequence after the first target.  The first shooter calls for the target, and as soon as the shotgun is fired, the next target is pulled for the second shooter, and so on until all five shooters have shot at their targets.  In report, if there are no malfunctions, it may take as little as 6 seconds for 5 targets, or as long as 12 to 15 seconds.
• International speed continental.  This is the same as regular continental - 2 shots per target from 16 yards, except that the speed of the birds has been increased to that used in international trap competition (70+ mph).
• Colored bird shoot.  This will be standard trap shot from the 18 yard line.  There will be black, green, yellow, orange, white, and any other colors we can get ahold of.  This must be shot under the lights after dark.

All teams should be ready to shoot a doubles event after the first week.  An event/team/week matrix will be available at the start of the second week so that the teams will know which event they are shooting which week so they may bring the appropriate shotguns.
