New Caretaker

Saturday, 25 June 2011

The club will have a new caretaker on site in about two weeks.  The selection committee winnowed the applicants down to Lloyd Parshall (known by his initials "LC") and his partner Cindy Gonzalez.  LC has been working on grounds maintenance for the Canby High School for several years, and has a long background as a caretaker, grounds maintenance worker, and security guard.  Cindy also works for the Canby School District as a custodian, and has previous experience as a caretaker at the Molalla River State Park.  Dan and Julie Postlewait have been helping in the transition, with one result being that they wrote a 12 page procedures document to help out the new caretakers.

Part of the delay in getting the caretakers on site has been the time required to assess the condition of their new home, and to perform the minor maintenance required.  The interior of the home has been repainted, and the shed has also been painted to match the exterior color of the house.  The carpets need some minor repairs and cleaning that should be completed by 6/29/11.  There are some minor plumbing issues (e.g. replacement of shower knobs), and the vent fan for the stove needs to be replaced.  The other item is to replace the temporary steps at the front door and kitchen door with a small deck and better steps.  We are hoping to have the work done by 7/1/11 so that the caretakers can move in as soon as possible.
