Work Party #5
Saturday, 9 November 2013
The last scheduled work party of 2013 was held today, and the work to be done included winter preparation and getting ready for the November and December trap shoots. Elk season is still in full swing and we didn't expect many participants, but we were a bit surprised by the number of participants. The following are the tasks that were done:
- Blew leaves, moss, and crud from the roof of the clubhouse, shed, and conex. (Jim Burdett can usually be found on the high ground doing this job. At least he doesn't get hit by the falling debris that he creates.)
- More wood was split (courtesy of Star Rentals and Pete Kosky), and our wood storage is nearly full now.
- Performed maintenance on the trap machines, and worked on a power issue to trap #1.
- Raked wads around traps 1, 2, and 3.
- Repaired the target cable on the west range, and rehung one of the gongs that had been shot down by the club's sharpshooters. It would appear from the evidence - 4 of 4 gongs shot down by multiple hits on the hardened chains - that CRGC's expert rifle shooters are no longer with us, and we now have their lesser, inept successors on the range.
Members who participated in the work party include (new members names are marked by an asterisk): Jim Burdett, John Eide*, Doug Howard, Max Klaetsch, Adam Maurer*, John McNally, L.C. Parshall, Rich Phaneuf, Jim Robertson, Paul Shuey, Jay Spillum, Jack Starrett (applicant), Bob Sutton, and Mark Taft (CRGC applicant).
