Work Party #1, 2012

The first work party of 2012 occurred today, with pleasant and warm weather, in marked contrast to both the forecast and the weather of the previous few days.  The following is the list of tasks accomplished:

• General clean up of the grounds and all ranges.
• Chipping of brush along main road.  Not finished as more was cut while chipping the previously cut brush.
• Raked wads, and tested vacuum machine to pick up wads and hulls.  The Billy Goat vacuum worked quite well - better than other solutions we have tried.
• Inspected the baffles on the 100yd range for pea gravel level.  Repairs will be made in June and July.
• Applied Calpril and fertilizer to all three lawn areas.
• Removed sawdust and chips from stump grinding in parking area and filled holes with 3/4 minus gravel.
• Hung 5 wood duck boxes which were donated to club.
• Loaded traps 1 - 4 with targets.
• Spray grass and weeds around all building and trap pad perimeters.
• Cleaned and greased trap machines.
• Cleaned kitchen exhaust fan and grease trap.
• Began the annual mowing marathon.

Members of the Clackamas County 4-H shooting sports group arrived and helped with the work party - raking wads and hulls, picking up hulls, and loading traps with targets.  They included:  Kayla Cochran, Jacob Johnson, McKenna Johnson, and Vern Johnson.
