Work Party #4, 2008
Saturday, 16 August 2008
Thirteen members and one guest showed up for outdoor maintenance today despite the heat. Joe Dula and Dan Stevens also provided heavy equipment to help with the projects. The participants started assembling for the work party around 7:45 AM, with doughnuts to start the day, and sandwiches from Fisher's Meats for lunch. The tasks included:
- Raked wads around traps 1 through 3.
- Blew leaves and needles from the roofs of the caretaker's house and the clubhouse.
- Swept and washed the clubhouse floor, and cleaned the tables.
- Mowed on the 100 yard range, and along the road and entrance to the club.
- Watered a couple hundred trees.
- Cleared the area for the new archery range, and removed a dying tree from the new range, which will be cut up for firewood for the club.
- Started clearing the 300 yard shooting positions.
- Cleaned up the 50 yard ranges. Removed the cable on the east and west 50 yard range and set up the new target holders on both 50 yard ranges. There was also dirt placed in front of the railroad ties as a protection for the target holders. The dirt in front of the railroad ties is NOT a target backstop. Place targets on the 2x2 target posts.
- Scraped up about 20 cubic yards of broken clay targets from trap #2, preparatory to disposing of them.
- The gravel road to the ranges was graded, as was the gravel at the entrance to the club and along the club's asphalt entrance road.
