2005 Annual Picnic

Monday, 12 September 2005

The club's annual picnic was held on Saturday, 10 September 2005.  The attendance - there were about 105 people there - was disappointing, but that did not stop those of us who were there from enjoying ourselves.  We are uncertain about the reason for the relatively poor attendance, but the board will discuss it at the next meeting.  Perhaps we should have mailed reminders to members, although the notice was published in the newsletter and the web site, and maybe the weather forecast, not to mention the thunderstorm that actually did roll through in mid-afternoon, had something to do with it.  People started arriving about 10:00 AM, and generally convened in tables at the clubhouse and around the BBQ grill to talk and play cards.

Rick Peterson worked on barbecuing the ribs and chicken, with help from Hugh Boyle, Dennis Kenagy, Homes Tupper, and others.  Hugh Boyle and Jim Burdett bought the food and drinks (and plates, and hand towels, and soap, and knives, forks, and spoons, etc.) for the picnic.  Evelyn Conrad-Hill organized and ran the children's games.
